Return from Camp IAWAH

Well, we've returned from our week long ventures in Camp IAWAH located on Wolfe Lake, near Westport. The girls were both enrolled in "Squeeze Camp", a co-ed week for boys and girls ages 8-11 (Nat was able to "squeeze" in, being only 7 at the time). We volunteered our time which cut the camp costs in half. Both Katie and I were responsible for kitchen duties from 6am to 10am and then taking photos of the kids at camp for the rest of the day. I had the additional responsibility of teaching archery in the afternoon.

The girls were placed in the same cabin "Shadrach", with their two female counsellors, with nicknames of "Couture" and "Lumix", and five other campers. There were twelve cabins in total, evenly split between on the boys' and girls' sides.

Katie and I were placed in "Bush Lodge", where we also brought Moose (our rabbit) along for the trip. While the bed is not overly comfortable, the room is self-contained in that it has its own sink, toilet and shower - luxuries at camp!

While we saw the girls at breakfast, lunch and supper, and then sporadically while attending various activities for photos, we tried to allow them to more fully interact with their cabin mates without parental interruption.

While the week was tiring for Katie and I, and we had hoped for some more "down-time", we still loved our working vacation and the girls had a blast. We'll be back in October for Family Thanksgiving Camp!
